This is what i have so far
The New FEAR Ladder Tournament
•The new FEAR ladder tournament, invites continuous competition. The format increases camaraderie among opponents by encouraging continuous play against one another. The ongoing competition provides a challenge to everyone involved. Everyone remains in the tournament and stays motivated to continue climbing up the ladder.
•The new FEAR ladder, allows for flexible scheduling. The lower ranked competitors challenge those with a better ranking to a match. The two competitors work out the best time and place for the scheduled match.
•In the new FEAR ladder, each competitor has something worthwhile to play for. Each experiences the satisfaction of testing his skills against a competitor of grater skill. Each victory secures a higher ranking on the ladder. This way, everyone that competes maintains interest in the tournament and in improving their position.
•Many tournament formats lend themselves to blowouts and embarrassing losses. In the new FEAR ladder, however, the best and worst players all experience parity. The lower ranked players challenge someone slightly higher on the ladder in order to move up in the rankings. This way, every player has an opportunity to improve his skill without getting embarrassed by an opposing player with a much higher level of skill.
To start the ranking system we need all the clans to sign up and register each team. For the start of the tournament we will pull team names and randomly place them on the ladder rungs. This will be a random placement to start but throughout the matches it will work out to be a true reflection of a team or clans ranking.
•Each clan can have a maximum of 3 teams each with 4 players. They must be labeled Team A, B and C
•Players that are on one team for a clan cannot be on another team for the same clan. However if a player is in multi clans he can be on one team per Clan that her/she is actively a member of. If conflicts arise due to a player being on both teams than both teams must use a substitute player
•Matches must be played within a week of the challenge date. If Clans has matches arrange they must post it on the website for ranking.
•Each match will have a referee (sanctioned by the FEAR community) to enforce the rules and take screen shots and videos
•The maps must be stock maps unless both teams agree on a custom map
•No glitching, or cheating of any kind
•A team can only challenge a team higher on the ladder by 1 or 2 rungs
•To advance to the next rung a team must win 2 out of 3 matches.
•There will be a 12 minute time limit on each match and the team with the highest captured flags wins or in case of a draw the team points will be added up to determine a winner.May 27, 2012 at 3:41 pm #748
I’d suggest removing the option to use custom maps, and use stock only.
Also I might need some advice for result registering if someone has good web development knowledge and/or wordpress plugin development skills.May 27, 2012 at 3:51 pm #749
I don’t know anything about web development however i can donate a server for the tournamentMay 27, 2012 at 3:55 pm #750
Thanks, that would help too, and well, we might need to first get the internal funtionality for the tournament, I work on that and other stuff atm, will keep you guys updated on that.
Meanwhile we could contact CE|, [KDR], [d|p], (AAC) and the other clans that were interested on It to get some more feedback ^_^ They had interest in clanwars too.May 27, 2012 at 4:03 pm #751
The CTF rules looks good, if i will ahve some ideas i will reply in this topicMay 27, 2012 at 5:28 pm #752
Sorry if I am late to the party but I have a lot on right now.
RAW can sort out the result registering, and we can also set up one or more servers for this. We will also need to set up a group of officially recognised referees, in order that we can ensure that some are always available and that they are independent of either teams taking part in the matches that they are to be involved in.
I’d have to agree that the maps need to be stock maps.
The only downside for me is that RAW are not CTF players, so I guess we are going to have to practice a lot!May 28, 2012 at 2:06 am #754
This sounds fun and interests me! Perhaps we should have multiple servers spread out globally (USA, Europe and Australia for example). This will allow players to participate in a tournament in their region without being disadvantaged by a large ping difference. If you would like, I can setup a server for the Australasian region (including Japan since their pings are around 150 here). I should also recommend that server hosts cannot participate on their own server because they would have an advantage unless:
- They are a referee or
- They are using a different internet connection.
Everything sounds good. Completely agree with stock maps and like the rules.

That’s what I wanted to read ^_^ We need to talk about the details ^_^
and we can also set up one or more servers for this.

Yup. I think bones can provide the Australian Server and RAW the one in Europe. I know someone who can host the one in USA

That’s It.May 28, 2012 at 4:52 pm #761
I think it would be a good idea to post something on the home page asking for people who are interested in becoming referees; this might be a way to get players not in any clan involved.
We are looking for honest FEAR players to help with the upcoming CTF tournament. We are actively recruiting referees to moderate the matches. We are looking for candidates to become offical referees from all around the globe. If you are interested contact “whomever”
1.Be familiar with SCMD and CMD_ commands
2.Be fair and honest
3.Know the rule and be willing to enforce the rules
4.Be-able to take screen shots and video clips of the matchesMay 28, 2012 at 4:59 pm #762
we need a mixed group from various location because of ping issuesMay 28, 2012 at 10:53 pm #763
yup, that’s correct.
I still have a pending question:
Is It better a tournament or a ladder?
My choice: Tournament. people will be more likely to keep interest on It, and once It’s over, there can be another one, in other gamemode.
Please share thoughts on this.May 28, 2012 at 11:41 pm #764
