General feedback, report bugs, make suggestion etc.March 27, 2012 at 3:12 pm #181
We have now introduced SEC2 on to all our servers and I am very happy with the results so far and the new commands, balance works really well. Great job. Just a little bit of feedback for you and some questions.
I noticed that when we first ran SEC2 and I logged into SCMD, LISTCLIENTS resulted in all players listing the same I.P. mine! This happened the first three times I tried to list the clients, then on the fourth listing it came up as normal with all the correct I.P.’s. Please note that I couldn’t reproduce this bug when the server restarted again.
Remote access via a programme such as VNC. I used to be able to log into SCMD via VNC but if I try it now then it results in the server crashing.
cmd_energy doesn’t seem to do anything!
cmd_warnuser [ID] Player has been issued a warning1 (Reason Warned by admin). Is it possible that we could put an actual reason in there?
These are both very handy for getting players attention, would it be possible to have something like: cmd_burn2 & cmd_fry2 where it takes 50% of players health?
cmd_hyper [0/1] – Will disallow hyper punching if set to 0.
cmd_glitch [0/1] – turns on/off the ability to lean through and shoot people through walls.
Would it be possible to have an actual working version of these two commands in a future version?March 28, 2012 at 1:50 am #192
cmd_energy: The special FX is only visible to other players, not yourself. If you listen closely though, you will hear a very rapid heartbeat sound.
cmd_burn/fry: Yes, I can expand the command with a damage % parameter. e.g. cmd_burn (id) (damage%)
cmd_hyper: I’ll think about it. Basically the SEC method was to throttle punches to 1 per second.
cmd_glitch: Yes, this can be implemented to disable lean command.
“Remote access via a programme such as VNC. I used to be able to log into SCMD via VNC but if I try it now then it results in the server crashing.”
Sorry, I don’t quite understand the VNC part, maybe since I’ve never done this. Can you explain in more detail exactly how you connect to SCMD with VNC?

Hi all, yea i think the cmd_hyper should be incorporated.Reason is some server owners might want to enable or disable according to their style of gaming. Also the cmd_fry/burn should include a slow yet consistent damage value for the active life of a player until death.March 28, 2012 at 3:10 am #197
About cmd_glitch I’d say most pros have complained about It. since no one should lean anyway, It’s cheap.
Also, they say It used to affect a lot the precision of the shoots when you shoot near a wall, and was a big backwards.March 28, 2012 at 12:29 pm #198
I know this has been mentioned on our website but this should really be the place for it. Also, just for the record, we are running SEC2 on a Windows Server 2003 R2 platform.
We normally run a 18-slot TDM server but when we launch this server it defaults to 16-slots and the ServerOptions.txt file gets rewritten back to 16 slots. We also tried running botz3000′s 64 player add-on mod but the server still launched with 16 players instead of 18.
About VNC, sorry I have confused you here, VNC isn’t the issue in itself, VNC just gives a virtual desktop on our dedicated server, this displays the FEAR dedicated server consoles for each server, which has the following tabs: Stats : Rules : Maps : Players : Console & Stop Server button.
It’s logging into SCMD through this console that now causes the server to crash. I should have explained this better.March 28, 2012 at 9:51 pm #199
Hmmmm I think Fred has a good idea about this although we never encountered problems as such about the 18 playersMarch 28, 2012 at 11:15 pm #201
You should not need to login from the Windows dedicated server console, the server should treat the console as always logged in, and you can just type scmd commands at any time (e.g. scmd listclients).
Are you by some chance binding to a different IP in your ServerOptions.txt than the default IP of your Windows server?
I have not encountered this bug on my machine, but I will track it as an issue and see if I can reproduce it.
For the 18 slot v.s. 16 slot issue, I will admit that I have not done much testing on the Windows platform (I prefer Linux myself), but I will take some time and try and reproduce.
Thanks for your help in reporting these issues! Keep them coming! We appreciate your efforts and support in making SEC2 a success.

Regarding the console issue, I should say that I do not make a habit of logging in via the console, in fact I don’t advise people doing so as if you forget to log out then the admin are unable to log in on the server. I was just testing something out and thought that I would point out that it now causes the server to crash. It is not a big issue.March 29, 2012 at 10:41 pm #210
Be reminded that the SEC2 has multiple admin capabilities.More than one can be logged in presuming that others you trusted have the SCMD access.Once logged in they can be capable of doing server moderator duties.I did some extensive tests on this as well today with the console and yes some modifications if it can be done needs to be done.Yes I too must say thanks as this is a informative way in letting us know about problems to deal with along the way making this project a success. Thanks guysMarch 30, 2012 at 12:31 am #211
Now that is something that I didn’t realise, thanks Morda, all of our full members have admin rights on all our servers and games. There seems to be a lot of nice features like this that are not documented, like displaying when an admin logs in. One of the best that I have noticed is it’s ability to display when a player has changed his name, something that used to be really hard to keep track of.
If you haven’t already got one then if you could let me have the full list of features etc. I would like to publish a full guide.
On a side note, I have noticed that it doesn’t deal with the vote hack.March 30, 2012 at 1:17 am #212
Lol it’s no problem Rebel glad I helped out in some areas.Yea I will contact the appropriate individuals (Fred/Phreeze) and let them set up the command lists on the website. But bear in mind that SEC2 is still beta and our programmers are fighting to make it perfect lol. Since we were testing its ability out I tried the exodus and fearked (mainly Phreeze with fearked). It was able to catch both Exodus and Fearked. The fearked also has the server modify that disables all the votes and gives the hacker privilege to call any vote he wants. It also detects that an punishes XD. These are some of the hacks we used to test. Maybe there are other hacks if you can get a hold off pass it it on we will work on it asap.March 30, 2012 at 5:16 pm #219
I have now edited the F.E.A.R. Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.E.A.R. under the multiplayer section.March 30, 2012 at 6:41 pm #220
Very cool. Thanks!
I will try to have a new beta build ready tonight or tomorrow.April 5, 2012 at 12:00 am #272
I did want to bring something to your attention, I didn’t want to mention it before as I couldn’t be certain that it wasn’t our server causing the issue. Since installing SEC2 we have noticed a slight lag often occurring, I say lag but it would be better described as a slight stuttering, it’s nowhere near unplayable or anything like that but it is noticeable.
We have since moved our server into a new box and are now running on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, with a fresh install of all games and this problem is still there. I thought this should be brought to your attention.
